Poncho Maria Grey

EcuaFina alpaca ponchos are the ultimate gift for your closet. They are made in Ecuador by local people from the Andes mountains. All alpaca ponchos are selected by Rebecca, our founder, from local Andean communities. By purchasing from EcuaFina you support the hardworking craftsmen and women of Ecuador.

The wool ponchos are made of 50% alpaca wool and 50% acrylic. This blend of raw materials ensures that the material is strong, warm and super soft! This keeps the ponchos beautiful for a long time.

Our signature alpaca woolen ponchos are soft and warm, perfect to wear indoors or outdoors. Use them for a cold night or a chilly spring day.

Benefits of alpaca wool

  • Softer than cashmere and warmer than sheep's wool
  • Hypoallergenic and do not sting
  • Water and dirt repellent

Washing & drying

The poncho can be machine washed on a wool wash or hand wash cycle at 30 degrees or colder.

  • Use a wool wash or hand wash program
  • Put the washing machine on 30 degrees or colder
  • As few rpm of the washing machine as possible
  • Use wool detergent if necessary

After washing, do not put the poncho in the dryer but dab excess water from the poncho and let it dry lying or hanging.

All EcuaFina products are handmade and come from small Ecuadorian communities where the artisans do incredible work. They are purchased for a fair price and imported without an intermediary.

I've bought two ponchos from ecuafina; The huaonarí pattern and the st. Mary one. They're quality wool, good against wind and rain, warm when wrapped around you or used as a blanket, and spacious and airy enough to wear backpacks underneath. The make is somewhat thinner than expected, better for urban and casual wear than for hiking or mountaineering in cold weather. If you live in a colder region, I'd recommend a heavier woolen poncho, otherwise it's an excellent product. Also, the patterns are beautiful and very skilfully made.
