Necklage Mandi Wasi

This beautiful Mandi Wasi necklace is completely handmade by the people of the Mandi Wasi tribe. The beads are made from the seeds of the Simbio plant. This income from these jewels makes this tribe less dependent on agriculture. Agriculture that often comes at the expense of vulnerable tropical forests.

The Mandi Wasi community leads several projects that protect the Amazon rainforest from deforestation, including sustainable tourism. These projects are located on the northern banks of the Napo River: Mandi Wasi in El Pilche and Sani Warmi in Sani. The Warmis (women) welcome tourists to their community houses and share their traditions, their delicacies and their way of life.
